Grant of Rudolf Firkušný

Rudolf Firkušný was one of the most important Czech pianists of the 20th century and one of the most important interpreters of Czech music abroad. After emigrating during the Second World War, he worked mainly in the USA, where he built an international career and systematically performed works by Czech composers, especially Leoš Janáček and Bohuslav Martinů.

The Rudolf Firkusny Grant was established in memory of the world pianist R. Firkusny, Honorary Doctor of the JAMU, by his daughter Véronique Firkusny-Callegari and his son Igor Firkusny.

The grant is primarily used to support study abroad placements that provide participants with an exceptional educational opportunity in the field of study.

The Rector decides on the award of the grant on the basis of the recommendation of the committee.
