Accreditation
JAMU has been accredited to hold habilitation proceedings and proceedings for the appointment of professor in the fields of Dramatic Arts and Musical Arts.
The Habilitation and Appointment Procedures are governed by the Regulations of the Habilitation and Appointment Proced ures (.pdf) valid from 27. 11. 2024.
The habilitation procedure verifies the artistic or scientific qualifications of the applicant and the applicant’s pedagogical competence.
The applicant’s artistic or scientific qualifications are verified in particular on the basis of the habilitation thesis and its defence and other scientific, professional or artistic works.
Habilitation thesis means
- a work of art or artistic performance or a body of work, such as an outstanding public artistic activity,
- A written work that contributes new scholarship in the field of Arts Education,
- a collection of published scholarly works in the field of Arts Education accompanied by commentary, or
- a monograph in print that brings new scholarship to the field of Arts Education.

Progress
The habilitation procedure is initiated on the proposal of the candidate. The proposal is submitted in writing to the dean of the faculty that has accreditation for the specified field of habilitation.
The fee for acts related to the habilitation procedure is CZK 15,000.
In the procedure for appointment as a professor, the teaching and scientific or artistic qualifications of a candidate who is a distinguished and recognised artistic or scientific personality in his/her field are demonstrated.
Teaching qualifications will be demonstrated by the candidate demonstrating successful and conceptual teaching experience at the university, in particular by
- had a substantial contribution to the creation of study programmes and their specialisations,
- supervised and judged master’s theses and performances,
- has been or is a supervisor of students in a doctoral programme,
- is the author of teaching texts (mainly textbooks, scripts, manuals, e-learning manuals).
Artistic or scientific qualifications shall be demonstrated by an applicant who is appointed Associate Professor and who provides evidence of his/her own significant artistic or scientific activity, as follows
- a collection of significant works of art or performances and written, audiovisual, sound or visual recordings thereof,
- a collection of books or published scientific studies accompanied by a unifying commentary,
- responses to artistic or scientific work (especially studies and reviews in the professional and daily press, entries in dictionaries, medallion),
- data on artistic, professional and scientific grants,
- information about lectures or workshops at other universities or abroad,
- data on active participation in conferences, symposia and other professional meetings at home and abroad,
- data on membership in important artistic and scientific institutions, organisations and societies, etc. at home and abroad,
- data on service to the academic community, in particular service on university bodies and their constituent parts and the doctoral board,
- data on popularisation activities in the field of art or science.
The proposal to initiate the procedure for appointment as a professor is submitted to the Arts Council of the faculty that has accreditation for the said field of appointment. The proposal may be submitted by:
- the applicant supported by at least two written opinions from professors in the same or related fields,
- Dean, or
- Rector.
The proceedings for appointment as a professor may also be initiated by the Faculty’s Arts Council on its own initiative.
The fee for acts related to the procedure for appointment as a professor is CZK 15,000.
