How to become a user?
Come to the lending desk in the library. Please check the opening hours before you come in.

Please pay attention to the currently valid measures published above and in the header of the Aleph catalogue.
Internal users (students, faculty and staff) can register for free. To log in to your reader account, use your user ID and email password.
Students need a valid ISIC card or student card to register, which will continue to serve as a reader’s card.
Teachers and JAMU employees need a valid employee ID or ITIC card to register. These cards also serve as a reader’s card.
JAMU Alumni can register for free and need an AliveID digital card, which also serves as a reader’s card. The AliveID card can be obtained after joining the JAMU Community Network in the JAMU IS. Instructions for registration here.
External users are registered on the basis of an identity card and are issued with a non-transferable reader’s card. At the same time, they are given login details to the Aleph catalogue.
External users pay a fee of 200 CZK/year.
Without registration it is possible to borrow in the study room.
The library collection is built in accordance with the school’s focus. The disciplines represented are theatre, music, dance, film, radio, television, visual and applied arts, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, philosophy, literature (theory, fiction), languages and management. In the library you will find books, plays, opera librettos, scripts, music books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, phonograph records, dictionaries, anthologies, theses.
I want to borrow/return a document
Search the Aleph catalogue for the document you want. From the cataloguing record, you can find out its location and the conditions for borrowing it.
Study room
Note the signature and locate the book on the shelf. Books in the study room are arranged by subject according to the International Decimal Classification (MDT). CDs, DVDs and phonograph records are issued by the librarian at the lending desk on request.
Warehouse
You can order a book using the online catalogue.
You must first log in to your reader account. Internal users use the ID number on their ISIC card or employee ID card and the Webmail password to log in, external users are given their login details when they register. After searching for the required document, click on All Units, then Requirements in the record and confirm OK twice.
Document searches in the warehouse take place every weekday. The last requests are picked up at 3:30 p.m., Friday 2:30 p.m. Late requests will be picked up the next business day at 9 a.m. Completed requests remain ready at the loan desk for 5 business days or by appointment.
Absentee or full-time?
Full-time loans are intended for studying in the study room. Absentee loans can be taken home. Special types of documents such as CDs, DVDs, phonograph records and magazines are borrowed on a short-term basis only (1 week without the possibility of extension). Teachers and PhD students can use the long-term borrowing service (academic year with the possibility of extension).

If we really do not have the requested document, please use the Interlibrary Loan Service (ILS). The service is provided from libraries outside Brno and only for internal users. The International Interlibrary Loan Service (ILS, postage paid) is also an option.

We will lend you books at the lending desk. Please return them here.
How do I extend my loan?
You can renew your loan by logging into your reader account. To log in, use the ID number on your ISIC card or employee ID and your Webmail password. Select Reader in the top bar and click on Borrowing. This will expand a list of all the books you are currently borrowing, including loan period information. In the top bar, select Renew.
The late return fee is 5 CZK/day/rental.
Borrowing periods
Students are entitled to up to 15 loans for 3 months with the possibility of two extensions.
PhD students are entitled to up to 20 loans for 3 months with the possibility of two extensions. They can also take advantage of the long-term loan service.
Teachers are entitled to up to 30 loans for 3 months with the possibility of two extensions. They can also use the long-term loan service.
Employees are entitled to up to 10 loans for 3 months.
Alumni and professional users are entitled to up to 10 loans for 1 month with the possibility of one extension. External users cannot borrow CDs and DVDs on an absentee basis.
