Chorus

JAMU75_Šimon Pávek (32)

Singing connects. This phrase is also followed by our students attending the JAMU HF Choir under the direction of their colleagues from choral conducting. During individual rehearsals, students work on repertoire that is then presented at the end of the semester at concerts for the school or the public.

Mgr. MgA. Jan Ocetek, Ph.D., who at that time was studying for his doctorate at the HF JAMU. The idea also caught on with the management, and in the winter semester of 2016 the first group of singers began rehearsing under the direction of three choral conducting students and their pedagogical guidance.

At this time the choir was attended by twelve singers. The pedagogical guarantors of the course were prof. Blanka Juhaňáková (long-time choirmaster of the Slovak Philharmonic Choir) and assistants Pavel Koňárek (choirmaster of the NdB Opera Choir) and Jan Ocetek (choirmaster of Vox iuvenalis Brno), as well as MgA. Gabriel Rovňák, Ph.D.

Since then, the choir has continued to develop in terms of quality and number of students, which would be – if it were not for the current pandemic situation – around twenty-five.
