The basic mission of the research centre is a highly specialised reflection of the extraordinary cultural heritage that has been developed in Brno in the form of a unique composers’ school. 20. and the 21st century, and which continues to develop through the current creative activities of artists and scholars at the JAMU Faculty of Music. This legacy is therefore understood in its topicality and constantly open and changing development process. His research therefore represents a variable range of research topics and methodological approaches, reflecting both standard musicological research of a music historiographical or music analytical nature, as well as the field of artistic research, or experimental and maximally creative artistic creation and its reflection.

Last but not least, one of the key aims of the activities of the Brno Composition School Research Centre is to engage in the international research and creative context, both in relation to the development of existing international participation and links, and in the form of searching for and creating new space for mutual cooperation.
