Cabinet for Theatre and Drama Research

The Cabinet for Theatre and Drama Research focuses on research on theatre, audiovisual production and related boundary phenomena. Within the framework of interdisciplinary research, it combines theatrical, historical, sociological, media analytical and anthropological methods and seeks intersections with the field of artistic research. In cooperation with teachers and students of the Theatre Faculty of JAMU, he is developing the potential of this direction, which connects the process of artistic creation with academic discourse.

He also focuses on more general issues of art theory and history, art pedagogy, the philosophy of dialogue in relation to theatre, research into the feedback loop using objectivist methods, the personalities of the Czech theatre avant-garde and the Theatre Faculty of JAMU, and the relationship between radio and film. He cooperates with research institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The Cabinet is an active member of the domestic and international scientific and artistic community. Its members participate in conferences, workshops or research projects, the outputs of which are published in the professional press.

In collaboration with teachers and students, the Cabinet for Theatre and Drama Research initiates and organises international conferences and diverse research projects. Its members participate in the editorial activities of the Faculty of Theatre as authors, editors, professional editors, or consultants for the publication activities of other teachers or students.

Through continuous pedagogical activities in the bachelor, master and doctoral cycle, the Cabinet provides JAMU students with knowledge about the current state of theatre and audiovisual production, as well as the latest methodological tendencies.
