Evaluation
In 2020, the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts conducted an external quality assessment, which was linked to the OP VVV (Operational Programme Research, Development, Education) project of the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Sports of the Czech Republic, and for which JAMU received project funding.
The external evaluation was carried out at the Faculty of Music and Theatre of JAMU by the MusiQuE organisation, which managed the entire evaluation. However, the individual faculties were evaluated by expert teams from different agencies – HF agency MusiQuE / DF agency EQ-Arts. The evaluation focused on assessing the creative, educational and artistic activities and quality systems used at both faculties.
Two evaluation teams operated in parallel at both faculties, with MusiQuE providing overall coordination of the evaluation process. The insights gained by the evaluation teams during their joint on-site review, together with the self-assessment reports and related documentation provided by both faculties, represent the full set of primary data on which the respective committees based their analyses and the subsequent outputs of the process – the two quality improvement evaluation reports. Both reports capture the current status at the faculty level and provide recommendations aimed at quality improvement for the specific context within which both faculties operate. However, as the evaluation teams worked in close collaboration throughout the evaluation process, they identified a set of recommendations in relation to the institutional level, which are presented separately in the final section of both reports. Together, the two teams suggest that JAMU consider these recommendations as a means to further develop its own mechanisms and processes to enable stronger support for the University’s constituents in the various quality improvement processes.
