What is needed

Before arrival

  • you must first be nominated by your home university – without an official nomination it is not possible to apply
  • after nomination, fill in the online application form in the ISOIS system (including required attachments: cover letter, CV, portfolio/recordings, confirmation of language level)
  • After processing your application, you will receive a Letter of Acceptance

  • Non-EU/EEA/Switzerland students need a long-term student visa,
    • Submit your application immediately upon receipt of the Letter of Acceptance,
    • The Foreign Department of the Faculty of Arts/HF JAMU can also help you (they will put you in Student Mode, which makes the visa process faster),
  • Students from the EU do not need a visa, they just register with the Foreign Police upon arrival,
    • Visa procedure takes up to 90 days – follow the current instructions of the Czech Embassy in your country,
    • the documents usually required for a visa application:
      • completed visa application form,
      • Letter of Acceptance,
      • a valid passport and passport photos,
      • proof of sufficient financial means (e.g. bank statement or scholarship award certificate),
      • confirmation of accommodation,
      • valid health insurance for the entire period of stay,
      • an extract from the criminal record.

  • EU/EEA/Switzerland students – bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) to cover essential care. It is recommended to register with the EHIC upon arrival,
  • non-EU students – take out comprehensive health insurance for the duration of your stay.

JAMU offers accommodation at Astorka dormitory (Novobranská 3) – it is recommended to book in time according to the instructions of the Foreign Department of the Faculty.

Upon arrival

Valid only for those living outside the Astorka Dormitory.

  • EU students: within 30 days after arrival at the Foreign Police
  • Non-EU students: within 3 working days with the Foreign Police

Attend an orientation meeting at your faculty – get information about teaching, access to buildings and the JAMU system.

Get a student card – it serves as an ID card, access to the library, dormitory and classrooms, as well as a discount card to theatres and concerts of JAMU or JAMU partners.

Make sure you have access to our information system so you can register for courses, sign your accommodation contract, activate your e-mail and follow news on the Life at JAMU forum.

Login details will be sent to you by the JAMU Faculty Coordinator.

  • do it in the information system(IS JAMU)
  • no later than 3 weeks after arrival
  • Registration creates a Learning Agreement

  • Obligation for all those who stay in Brno for more than 3 months,
  • Payment:
    • online in two steps:
      1. by bank transfer,
        • log in to the system BrnoID,
        • you can pay the fee after registration,
      2. in cash at the Brno City Hall cash desk (Dominikánské náměstí 1).
