An Erasmus+ practical or work placement gives you the opportunity to experience how professional practice works abroad. You can work in a theatre, a gallery, an orchestra, a festival, a cultural agency, a research centre or even an educational institution. You will gain real-life experience, new contacts, confidence and inspiration that will enrich you personally and professionally.
Unlike a study placement, you spend most of your time in a working environment – involved in projects, rehearsals, productions or administration and learning how arts and cultural organisations work in other countries. Your internship can be artistic, pedagogical, technical or organisational, depending on your field of study.
The Erasmus+ programme supports both long and short-term placements (e.g. for PhD students) and also allows so-called combined mobility, which combines a physical stay with a virtual part. You can also do a traineeship abroad as a graduate – if you are selected during your final year of study, you can go within one year of graduation.
The great advantage of work placements is their flexibility: you can choose virtually any foreign institution that matches your field of study and career goals. Erasmus+ will help you not only financially but also organisationally – from preparing the documents to the recognition of your placement upon your return. Each internship is unique and is a way to connect your work, skills and interests to an international environment.
Who can apply
You can apply for an Erasmus+ study placement if:
- you are a student of some degree (BcA., MgA., Ph.D.),
- you are a graduate (only before the end of your final year of study),
- you are enrolled in an accredited study programme at JAMU,
- you don’t have a gap year,
- you have at least A2 level in the language of instruction at the host institution.
Length of stay
- Long-term traineeship: 2-12 months (non-continuing Master’s programme – 24 months)
- short-term internship for PhD students: 5-30 days
- Combined mobility – physical stay supplemented by a virtual part
Financial support
For the academic year 2025/2026
The support is non-reimbursable and is governed by the rules set by the European Union, the strategic plan and the internal regulations of JAMU. It always depends on the programme call in which the mobility is implemented.
